Summer Getaway

As someone pointed out a while back, the Getaway has been to France (three times), Spain (twice) Great Britain (at least three times), Greece (twice) and Italy before. But there is a whole lot more Europe that we have never visited. So this year we’re going to correct that oversight by touring Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and even tiny, blink-and-you missed-it, Liechtenstein.

We’ll tour the great cities of history: Berlin, Munich, Dresden and Prague. Wait a minute, “Prague”? Yes, Prague, one of the greatest cities of Europe that you never heard of. Our trip will eventually take us to the Alps and beautiful Lucerne, Switzerland.

Every Getaway is filled with history, culture and fun – lots of fun. We’ll travel together just like a big family. And although the trip is geared for students, everybody is invited to come along: moms, dads, grandparents, uncles, aunts, even big brothers and sisters have traveled with the Getaway. We’ll have free time to wander, gawk, sample the local cuisine and of course, shop. We hope you’ll join us for this exciting trip.

We plan to depart from Raleigh on or about August 4, 2008 and return on August 13. Because of flight availability the actual dates of the trip might vary slightly.

This Getaway is for All-Arts & Sciences Campers ages 12-17, their adult relatives and friends.

Trip Leader

Our trip leader will be Bob Prout, Director of Youth Programs and Executive Director of the All-Arts & Sciences Camp for 14 years and Getaway leader since 1996.

Costs for Getaway Trip

The cost of this trip is $2772 for participants 11-17 and $3088 for adults 18 years and older. A non-refundable deposit of $400 is required with each registration to secure a place (space is limited). Travelers should also budget an additional $250 - $300 for lunches, incidentals, and souvenirs.
